70s-Inspired Boho Wedding Shoot at Berwick Lodge
Some ideas just need to come to life — and this 70s-inspired styled wedding shoot at Berwick Lodge was one of those dreamy concepts I couldn’t stop thinking about. Nestled in the beautiful countryside just outside of Bristol, Berwick Lodge set the scene perfectly for a free-spirited, sun-drenched celebration full of natural charm. This independently owned boutique hotel combines Victorian elegance with Turkish-inspired interiors, creating a unique and romantic atmosphere. The venue is set within 18 acres of beautifully maintained gardens and woodlands, providing a serene backdrop for photo shoots and weddings.

The Vision: A California Hippy Dream
Inspired by the golden glow of 1970s California and the effortlessly cool hippy aesthetic, I wanted this shoot to blend vintage vibes with modern romance. It all started with a pair of burnt-orange tasseled boots I stumbled across in a local charity shop — the kind of unexpected find that sparks a whole vision.
From there, everything just started falling into place. I gathered a brilliant team of creatives, found two amazing models, and we got to work bringing the concept to life.
The Dress: Boho Elegance by Bys Vyken
The wedding dress, supplied by Bys Vyken, had the perfect ethereal boho feel — floaty, romantic, and just the right touch of drama. Styled with a bold spring bouquet and those iconic boots, the look captured the spirit of a bride who’s wild at heart and isn’t afraid to do things her way. The brand of the dress was Shikoba which is a British bridal fashion brand known for its free-spirited, bohemian-inspired wedding gowns. The label was founded by friends Fi and Becca, who were passionate about creating dresses that break away from traditional bridal norms. Shikoba — which means “feather” in the Native American Choctaw language — embodies freedom, individuality, and a sense of relaxed elegance.
Shikoba dresses typically feature flowing silhouettes, intricate lace, tassels, fringe, and embroidery, often incorporating natural and vintage-inspired elements. The brand appeals to modern brides who value authenticity, personal style, and a laid-back yet stylish aesthetic — perfect for outdoor weddings, festival-style ceremonies, or adventurous elopements.
Details That Made It Pop: Florals, Disco Balls & That Golden Light
No 70s-inspired shoot would be complete without a disco ball — a little nod to the era’s fun, carefree energy. We added one to the setup and let it work its magic, catching the light in the most gorgeous way.
The bouquet, created by Wild Zinnia, filled with seasonal blooms in soft peaches, oranges, and blush pinks, tied everything together. Think wildflower meadow meets flower child — exactly the vibe we were going for.
Why Berwick Lodge Was the Perfect Setting
Berwick Lodge’s lush gardens, timeless architecture, and tucked-away charm made it the ultimate backdrop. There’s something about that space that feels cinematic — peaceful yet powerful, romantic yet grounded.
For anyone dreaming of a wedding that breaks from tradition and leans into personality, colour, and a bit of nostalgic flair — this shoot is for you.
